Virtual Rafting with the Legends

May 15, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for a wonderful virtual riverside campfire chat with some of the legendary pioneers of the river movement.

Hosts: Bob Cushman, Board Chair and  Scott Armstrong, Board member and owner of All Outdoors
Moderator: Mark Dubois, Chairman Emeritus and Former Executive Director
Legends: George Armstrong, Joe Daly and Bill McGinnis

Eight years ago, Scott Armstrong, long time board member and owner of All Outdoors Rafting, and Board Chair Bob Cushman teamed up to create a wonderful full day experience of storytelling and rafting on the South Fork American followed by a riverside dinner at Bob’s home. It has been a regular auction item at the California River Awards, FOR’s signature fundraising event every October.  This event has been very popular year after year but limited to only about a dozen lucky bidders who got to hear the wonderful stories of the early years from the likes of one of FOR’s founders and Chairman Emeritus Mark Dubois, the late OARS founder George Wendt, All Outdoors founder George Armstrong, ECHO rafting founder Joe Daly, and Whitewater Voyages founder Bill McGuiness plus an assorted cast of extras.

Since this event has historically taken place in May and we are presently unable to hold live events due to the pandemic, we have decided to make it a virtual event for all members of the FOR community to enjoy an hour of wonderful stories and conversations.

We will have some surprise new additions to the line up to make for some wonderful new tales of the early days and visions of the future. Unfortunately, we can’t actually take you down the river, but we will try to take you there in spirit with great stories and short videos.  So grab your favorite riverside beverage, sink into your favorite chair, and log in to be part of this wonderful gathering.
