River Guide Activist Training - April 11-19, 2025

Join Friends of the River for an unforgettable 9-day River Guide Activist Training on the South Fork of the American River in Lotus, California, from April 11-19, 2025. This unique program will equip you with essential river guiding skills while deepening your understanding of water policy, river advocacy, and grassroots organizing.

Led by experienced trainers, this hands-on course includes:

• • Class III whitewater guide skills, including reading the river, captaining a paddle boat, and river safety
  • Training in water policy, advocacy, organizing, and leadership
  • Group meals and camping in a stunning river setting
  • A transformative experience that prepares you to inspire change and defend California’s rivers

Cost: $750 – Scholarships available in exchange for a commitment to volunteer
